Side Feed Crew 6 Pack
Description
For companies operating a fleet of wood chippers, the Brush Buddy Side Feed Crew Pack is an ideal way to equip multiple crews with a designated wood chipper safety tool. Each Crew Pack includes six Brush Buddy Side Feed tools to help promote consistent safety practices across multiple crews and jobsites.
The new Brush Buddy Side Feed Series features a patented side-feed design that allows the operator to stand safely to the side of the wood chipper while moving and directing brush, limbs, and loose woody debris into the hopper. This positioning helps keep the operator out of the direct path of the material while supporting safer feeding practices addressed by ANSI 9.6.11.
During roadside operations, the Side Feed design also allows the operator to work from the curb or shoulder side of the chipper whenever practical. This helps reduce the risk of stepping into traffic or being pushed toward traffic by the material being fed, supporting the roadside safety practices addressed by ANSI 9.6.12.
The side-positioned design also gives the operator a clearer view of debris being fed by a coworker. The operator can watch the material as it moves toward the hopper and follow it with the Brush Buddy Side Feed paddle, helping guide loose debris while maintaining a safer position beside the chipper.
Features
Patented Side-Feed Design: Allows the operator to stand to the side of the chipper while moving and directing debris into the hopper.
Safer Operator Positioning: Helps keep the operator out of the direct path of brush, limbs, and debris being pulled into the feed system.
Roadside Safety: Allows operators to work from the curb or shoulder side whenever practical, helping reduce exposure to passing traffic.
Improved Visibility: Gives the operator a clearer view of material being fed into the chipper by a coworker.
Follow-Through Control: Allows the operator to follow and guide loose debris with the Side Feed push paddle as the material moves into the hopper.
Safer Hand Positioning: Helps operators direct brush while keeping their hands and body away from the chipper’s infeed area.
Reduced Hand Feeding: Reduces the need to push brush and debris toward the chipper by hand.
All-Wood Construction: Made entirely from wood with no metal components or fasteners.
Foreign-Object Prevention: Provides an alternative to metal rakes and shovels that may accidentally introduce stones, nails, sweepings, metal, or other non-woody material into the chipper.
Blade Protection: All-wood construction helps protect chipper knives from damage caused by metal tools.
Crew-Focused Safety: Provides tree-care companies with a designated wood chipper tool for more consistent operating practices across crews and jobsites.
Supports ANSI Safe Work Practices
The Brush Buddy Side Feed is designed to provide additional support for safe work practices addressed by ANSI 9.6.10, 9.6.11, 9.6.12, and 9.6.14.
ANSI 9.6.10: Hands, feet, and other parts of the body shall not pass beyond the plane of the infeed hopper.
ANSI 9.6.11: When hand-feeding a chipper, the operator shall feed brush and logs from the side of the feed-table centerline. Material should be fed butt or cut end first, and the operator shall turn and step away when the material is taken by the rotor or feed rollers.
ANSI 9.6.12: When hand-feeding a chipper during roadside operations, the operator should work from the curb or shoulder side whenever practical to prevent stepping into traffic or being pushed into traffic by the material being fed into the chipper.
ANSI 9.6.14: Non-woody material such as stones, nails, or sweepings shall not be fed into chippers.
